PERFECT TIMING is a 100-foot LED light sculpture installed at the entrance of Printemps New York, composing the rhythm of the city into a shifting sequence of light that bridges the Art Deco grandeur of One Wall Street with the pulse of contemporary New York life.

  • Spanning 100 feet across the entrance of the landmarked One Wall Street building, PERFECT TIMING marks Printemps New York’s first-ever commission of a light artist, placing the work at the crossroads of contemporary art, Parisian heritage, and the cadence of lower Manhattan.
  • Surface (2026) reported that Amorós composed the work note by note in her New York studio, translating the city’s choreography of green, yellow, and red into a visual language that directly mirrors New York’s signals of movement and pause.
  • The sculpture’s green, yellow, and red lighting sequences are direct translations of the city’s traffic language, grounding the work in the lived rhythm of the street while responding to the Art Deco architecture of the 1931 building.
  • PERFECT TIMING continues Amorós’s exploration of time and ephemerality, positioning light as both medium and metaphor for the city’s perpetual negotiation between stillness and speed.
  • The work received coverage in Surface and FLAUNT (both 2026), affirming its resonance across both the contemporary art world and the cultural conversation around New York’s public spaces.
  • PERFECT TIMING installed at the entrance of Printemps, a Parisian luxury retail and hospitality concept. One Wall Street is the brand’s U.S. headquarters in the historic Wall Street district of New York City.

This installation upholds Amorós’s ethos of composing light like music, shaping each sequence “note by note,” in her New York studio. The installation responds to the building’s architectural lines and Printemps Parisian heritage, bringing together history and urban energy. Cities, like Paris and New York, are defined by their cadence. In New York, green accelerates, yellow questions, and red becomes a suggestion. The streets pulse with honking horns and hurried footsteps, forming a choreography that captures the essence of “The City.” Within this dance lies New York’s actual heartbeat, a perpetual negotiation between stillness and speed.

This artwork universally transforms light and time into signals of language. The lights are a measure of time itself, a dance of pause and motion. Clients may be seen waiting with the signature Printemps bag, hailing a yellow cab, or stopping at a red light, which is a vivid cycle of color that mirrors New York’s vibrant atmosphere.

PERFECT TIMING is a continuation of Amorós’s exploration of time and its ephemerality. It is an interactive installation in response to the Printemps Art Deco architecture and the house’s entry into its New York chapter, its own “New York Minute.”
